Sensation at Euro 2020: Switzerland knocked out France

Another interesting match at Euro 2020. The teams of France and Switzerland met in Bucharest in the 1/8 finals. The game ended with a sensational defeat for the French - the main favorites of the championship.

As in the first match on Monday, in which Spain and Croatia met, the main time of the meeting in the Romanian capital ended in a 3: 3 draw. In extra time, the teams did not score and everything had to be decided in a penalty shootout, in which everything was decided by Kilian Mbappé’s miss. The final score is 8: 7 in favor of Switzerland. Returning to the main time, it should be said that in the 15th minute the scoring in the match was opened by the footballer of the Swiss national team Haris Seferovich. In the 55th minute, the Swiss could have doubled their lead, but Ricardo Rodriguez missed the penalty. This failure temporarily demoralized the Swiss players, while the French, on the contrary, gave them strength. In the 57th and 59th minutes, Karim Benzema scores two goals and puts France ahead. And when, in the 75th minute, Paul Pogba struck the Swiss gate with a magnificent long-range shot, making the score 3: 1, it seemed that everything in this meeting was decided. However, the representatives of the alpine country did not quit playing and managed to win back. In the 81st minute, the same Seferovic made the score 2: 3, and in the 90th minute, Mario Gavranovich scored a saving goal. Switzerland will play Spain in the quarterfinals. Thus, three quarterfinal pairs are already known: Switzerland – Spain (July 2, 20:00, St. Petersburg), Belgium – Italy (July 2, 23:00, Munich), Czech Republic – Denmark (July 3, 20:00, Baku). On Tuesday, the final day of the 1/8 finals, the last two quarterfinalists will be determined. England will play with Germany and Sweden with Ukraine.
